Tuhuru Taonga

Tuhuru taonga is an e-commerce gallery showcasing the pounamu carvings I create from my studio in Christchurch, New Zealand. You can browse my authentic range of handmade carvings and purchase directly or commission a custom made piece. All my work is made from genuine NZ pounamu that is sourced by myself and other kaitiaki pounamu (guardians) on Te Tai o Poutini (New Zealand’s West Coast). I believe it is important that when someone is buying taonga pounamu that they get the genuine real deal. I feel it is wrong that the majority of jade carvings sold in NZ are made from British Columbian jade carved in China using Māori designs. It is my goal therefore to educate and encourage people to buy Māori made taonga (treasure).
